Coolant, which you probably also know as antifreeze helps protect the engine from overheating. It also lubricates the parts in comes in contact with, to protect the water pump, head gasket, cylinder and piston timing. It is all in order to keep you vehicle running at its optimal condition be it needing heat or cooling down so your vehicle has the ideal temperature at all times. You should get your coolant flushed and changed every 50,000 miles generally, so if you're a driver who is coming up on that mark, ask us and we can make sure to do a flush for you.
