Commuter vehicles aren't really much of a thing here in the United States but, over in Japan, they seem to be gaining speed and Honda is right there at the forefront bringing some truly interesting ideas to the table. Say hello to the Honda MC-B, which stands for Micro Commuter Beta. Like its name suggests, it's very small and intended for little more than city commuting, but boy does it look like fun.
It doesn't look like we'll ever see the MC-B here in the states and Japan probably won't get it for a little while now, but we have some cool details about it that should certainly tickle the curiosity bone in any of you that frequent the city.
- At just 98 inches long and 50 inches wide, this thing is really small and should make finding a proper parking space a breeze.
- And the body is extremely light too. Designed by Honda's motorcycle division, it has room for one driver and a passenger in back, with two half-doors with no windows.
- It runs on a lithium-ion battery pack that produces just 8 horsepower and a range of roughly 50 miles, but it can recharge in under three hours on a 200-volt plug so you'll always be ready for the day to come.
- Its small size and weight have left it without power steering, requiring a firm grip for turns, but that seems to have been no problem for the test drivers.
