In order to really stand out within the competitive automotive world, this requires taking some bold risks as far as marketing is concerned. Honda is ready take on this challenge as it plans to take its marketing campaign in a "risky" direction.
To prepare for these endeavors, Honda has reserved 30 percent of its U.S. marketing budget specifically for these "risky" initiatives. The automaker isn't going to let anything get in the way of properly highlighting the new Honda lineup. Social media will be a major area of focus moving forward.
A great example of this is the Honda Civic "Best Yourself" campaign. It stars well-known musician Nick Cannon who focuses on how to increase self-improvement while driving a Civic vehicle. Ever since the two-minute video launched, it has received 2.5 million views and 70 million mentions on Twitter. The rapid spread of the video through social media made the campaign quite successful. The remaining portion of the marketing budget for Honda will focus on other effective methods by utilizing digital, print and television advertising. Along with its bold initiatives to target customers, Honda's social media department is collaborating with a new advertising agency to bring some fresh and innovative ideas to the table.
