When it comes down to the criteria drivers look for in a vehicle, fuel efficiency and eco-friendly qualities are becoming important factors to consider. To satisfy the needs of drivers in the greater Salem, OR area and beyond, Honda has been adding more of these options to its new Honda lineup. One example we'd like to highlight for you today is the 2013 Honda Civic Hybrid.

Along with being a prime example of Honda's integrated Motor Assist hybrid technology, this model has adopted all of the innovative and stylish features from the popular gas-powered Civic sedan that we have all come to know and love. With its impressive performance and offering of safety features, we're exciting to uncover some of its highlights.

The Civic Hybrid is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine which is coupled with a light-weight electric motor and two speed CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission). For the electric motor, this component is fueled by a lithium-ion battery that boosts efficiency since it's both lightweight and more powerful. With this powertrain setup the hybrid is able to generate 110 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque.

Moving on to its available standard safety features, the hybrid offers anti-lock brakes with brake assist, electronic stability and traction control systems, a tire pressure monitoring system and six airbags. Other additions that are new to the 2013 model and further differentiate it from the gas-powered Civic include LED brake lights, lane departure and forward collision warnings, and a voice-activated navigation system.

As you can see the Honda Civic Hybrid has quite the package of offerings, which gets us more excited for the arrival of the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid in October.
